Primitivo is the same grape as California’s Zinfandel – essentially it’s twin brother! The grape was brought to California from Croatia in the early 1800’s before it was brought to Italy, where today’s Zinfandels hail from. The Primitivo name is thought to have derived from its early ripening nature. Light, spicy, vibrant with beautiful color, and relatively low in alcohol, this wine is the perfect meal accompaniment for cioppino, pasta, or pork roast.
